Jacob Aviner

Jacob Aviner is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and educator living in Brooklyn, NY.  He performs with and composes for his indie-fusion quartet, Porterfield, which has twice been nominated for the Boston Music Awards’ Jazz Artist of the Year'.  He graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2015 where he studied Jazz Composition, Professional Music, and voice. In 2021 he graduated from New York University's Steinhardt School's Jazz Studies program with a Masters in Music studying jazz guitar.  He has toured with various ensembles in the USA both on the East Coast and in the Pacific Northwest, and performed in various venues in Spain.  He has studied with jazz greats Ari Hoenig, Peter Bernstein, Wayne Krantz, Alan Ferber, and Adam Rogers. 


As a sideman, Jacob enjoys supporting other musicians in various genres, whether they be jazz, rock, pop, or folk.  He produces and is a vocal coach for singer-songwriters. He also writes for short films and commercial projects, as well as jingles. 


Jacob is also an avid educator, and enjoys working with students of all ages, and in a variety of musical disciplines, including voice, guitar, bass, composition and theory.
